MCAD Work

2008-2012

Various work from my time at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Using only a photocopier and photoshop, I set to create a series of atmospheric images, stil and animated using punk and black metal music as inspiration. Music that is often made with low-cost production, heavy distortion and unconventional song structures. The final outcome was a series of 75 images and a video collection of animated gifs. All laid out on a gallery wall using an original grid design.
A visual poem of wandering and alien world. Using 9 pre-copied images and one article given by the instructor, I created this publication using only a photocopier. No computers were used to aid or adjust the imagery.
A story of a fisherman on the rough seas and his final decent to the bottom.
Hand stitched, french fold, all imagery made on a photocopier.
Without Them was a public campaign and installation to acknowledge the blue collar worker. Using easy to remove tags, we began placing small notes around town and campus. We then created Thank You cards and writing station for people to write a nice note. Using the Thank You’s we created a series of booklets for the maintenance, janitorial and public safety staff.
Hand bound book exploring from and function of typographic characters. Type was resourced from maga- zines, trash, digital fonts and hand rendered type. Manipulated through a photocopier and photoshop.
A book on hunting down stolen fossils and the black market for fossils plus an interview with Jack Horner, a well-known paleontologist.
A Poster Series to advertise a live performance of “This American Life : 20 Acts in 60 Minutes.” Acetone was used to create text and texture transfers. The design is a reflection of all the individuals’ personal stories coming together into one collection.
Book series created using the eyes, ears, and mouths of well known celebritysfrom the portrait book, ‘Andrew Zuckerman’s Wisdom’. The text for each of the books came from online archives and publications. All meant to evoke a sense feeling from visuals and oddly disconnected type.
